Our 3 Quick Tips for August Exercise

We know that August is a busy month, whether it’s managing school holidays, family get togethers, weddings or birthdays - there’s a lot to fit in!

We’ve put together some quick tips for managing your exercise routine during this busy period…

  1. Don’t be afraid to change things around

We all love our routines and having some structure to our workouts. However, sometimes we have to be flexible in order to maintain our fitness levels during busy periods. Simple changes include:

    • Timings, if you can’t go to the gym in the afternoon, make the extra effort to go in the morning

    • If you can’t make your usual class, maybe switch to a gym session

    • If you haven’t got time for a run, try a 10/15 minute stretch routine

Part of developing fitness is learning to adapt!

2. Try to schedule a workout where you can

Just like we schedule a family BBQ or coffee with a friend, sometimes we have to make the effort to schedule our workouts. It’s easy to skip a workout to fit something else in, but in order to keep your health and wellness balanced and consistent, sometimes we need to prioritise a workout over something else.

This doesn’t mean you can’t attend an event or you let people down, it just means that if you notice you have some extra time in the calendar that isn’t booked - use it for yourself!

3. Involve your family in your exercise

Who’s to say you need to go to the gym for every workout? Maybe you get your family out on a bike ride or you head to the swimming pool? There are many ways to get active with the whole family if you are struggling with childcare or want to keep the kids entertained!

If you want to meet up with a friend, grab a takeaway coffee and head for a walk, maybe a game of tennis - exercising is as much an social activity as a wellbeing technique!
