How To Keep Accountable

It’s all very well saying that we are going to start exercising more but how do we keep that promise?

Accountability is an essential part of keeping your fitness on track - so here are some easy ways to achieve it!

Blocking Time Out Of The Diary

It’s easy to back out of a gym session because things are busy and sometimes we genuinely do not have time in the day.

However, if you start physically blocking time out of your work and home diary to go and exercise, it will stop people booking you in for calls and meetings and ensure that you allocated time to work on your fitness.

Telling People That You Are Going To Train

It sounds silly but telling your partner, family, friends or colleagues that you are going to the gym later, or to a class, or for a run can help increase accountability.

When you tell people about the session you’ve planned, they can check in on you as to how it went. If you know you will have someone to answer to - you’re less likely to skip it!

Sharing Your Workouts

You don’t have to tell the world on social media but you could think about sending a picture to family when you go to your sessions, as a way to show your commitment. You could even create a group with friends and each one of you sends in their workouts, this can help increase motivation!

Consider a Personal Trainer

PT sessions are like appointments, you are unlikely to cancel them unless you really have to. If you really struggle to keep on top of your fitness then PT sessions could be the way forwards. you haven't got to think about what to do at the gym, the financial commitment will make you less likely to cancel and your PT will keep you accountable!
