5 Ways To Set Yourself Up For 2026
It’s the same old story every January isn’t it? We start the year with great intentions but no motivation to actually get going. Wouldn’t it be great if we could start implementing good habits ahead of the new year…?

Start going for a 10-20 min walk each day
Getting enough daily movement is something we can all struggle with, whether it’s commuting, office based work or lack of time, we spend a lot of time in a sedentary position. Rather than go all out at the gym without being able to sustain the workouts, simply start trying to incorporate more movement in to your day.
It could be walking to the station instead of driving, going for a 10 min walk at lunchtime - you’ll be surprised how easily you can do it!
2. Start a food diary
Many of us want to start the new year with a health kick but again this can be hard to sustain as we often cut everything out altogether and find it too hard. A simple thing to do is to start a food diary now, this will help you to see where you could make some easy swaps to healthier alternatives.
Come January you won’t need to radically change your diet, just continue to little changes you’ve been making already!
3. Start drinking more water
This is a classic that everybody falls short on - hydration! If you can start drinking more water now, you will be better off pre and post Christmas! try having a water bottle on your desk and having a glass of water with every hot drink!
4. Carve out 30 mins a day to do something you enjoy
There’s no doubt that January can be a hard month and mental wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing! Carving out 30 mins a day to read our book, go for a walk, listen to a podcast, watch our favourite TV show are is an important action in taking care of yourself.
Start the habit now to help make January that little bit easier!
5. Schedule your workouts into the diary
Start as you mean to go on - schedule your workouts like you would an appointment. Block the time out of your diary so that no one can book in a call with you, your wellness is important and you need to ensure you have regular and consistent exercise sessions!
If you can start implementing this 5 simple things now, by the time January comes along you won’t think twice about all the things you would normally feel overwhelmed by!
